The Tippie College of Business’ Iowa MBA program is among the top 20 public part-time MBA programs in the country and among the top 10 percent of all programs included in the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings.

The Iowa MBA ranked 18th among public colleges and universities in the magazine’s 2024 rankings that were released April 25. It was ranked 28th overall of 299 programs, up from 35 in the 2023 rankings.

It’s also the only part-time MBA program ranked in the top 150 in Iowa.

Amy Kristof-Brown, dean of the Tippie College of Business, said the elite ranking affirms the changes the college has made to its professional program in recent years.

“We’ve worked hard to give students options and flexibility in how they want to complete their degree and provide them with the skills they need to build their careers,” she said. “This ranking puts the Iowa MBA in elite company and shows our efforts are paying off.”

The Iowa MBA program has made numerous changes so that students to complete their degrees more easily. Among the changes is making the program an in-person/online hybrid, so students have the option of taking classes both online and in-person in one of the classroom facilities in Des Moines and have them count equally to completion of their degree. Class lengths have also been standardized so all classes are now 8-weeks long, which makes it easier for students to plan their academic calendar and fit classes into their busy lives.

Part-time MBA programs are assessed by U.S. News with a combination of data points including peer assessment, average GMAT/GRE scores, average undergraduate GPA, years of work experience, and percentage of full-time vs. part-time MBA program enrollment. Statistical data was collected fall 2022 and early 2023.

Highlights of the rankings will be published in the America’s Best Graduate Schools 2024 guidebook. A paid subscription is required to access all of the information.
